Lil' update and Friday Nails

Bonjour Pals!
Life's been pretty uninteresting lately. Well actually, I say uninteresting but actually that's not strictly true... Since I had a rather eventful and messy New Years Eve I vowed to have a sober January, however we're only 10 days in (New Years Day was a write off) and I've been drunk twice. So my 'dry January' isn't going quite to plan! The latter of these drunken ordeals involved me eating a napkin... Yes, eating it.
The rest of the month so far has been filled with working, babysitting and spending too much money on things I don't need. However I have just subscribed to Glossybox which I think was 100% essential and I'm very excited to receive my first box!

Favourite Cosmetic Items of 2012

So here we are... Hello 2013. To start off the year and round up last year blogwise I thought I'd do a summary of my favourite make up products of 2012. I've seen a lot of these and have enjoyed reading them so here are mine:)

Sally Hansen Gem Crush Nail Polish
I'm a sucker for glittery nail polish, and this is no exception. It's such a gorgeous colour and very Christmassy. It dries quickly and is opaque after 2-3 coats, perfect!

Models Own Nail Polish
Again like the above this not only caught my eye due to the amazing colour but also because its glittery and I tend to have magpie like qualities!

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer
This concealer is mentioned and used by soooooo many people on the bloggersphere, and I can totally see why. It's cheap and definately the best concealer I've ever tried. I highly recommend it!

Soap and Glory Arch De Triumph Brown Shaper and Highlighter
I never filled in my eyebrows until a month or two ago due to a fear of the farmhouse 'scouse brow' which I hate with a passion (sorry). But this little nifty number totally does the trick and defines your brows without looking completely un-natural.

Accessorize Blusher
I have to admit, I only really bought this because it looked pretty. I didn't think it would be a particularly good product as I didn't have very high hopes for the Accessorize range if I'm honest. Howeverrrrr, I love it! It's such a lovely colour. It's slightly shimmery and has blue undertones which seem to complement my skin very nicely. Overall I'm very impressed and can't wait to try more of the range this year!

Maybelline Liner Express Liquid Eyeliner
I have loved this eyeliner for so long! However when mine ran out earlier this year I thought I'd try some other brands out and see if I could find an even better one. The answer was no, I couldn't. So I found myself re-purchasing this little beauty and I'm so glad I did. It's so easy to use and an all time favourite of mine!

Bourjois Volume Clubbing Mascara
This is the perfect mascara for me without a doubt. It creates volume and length but doesn't clump together in an unatractive way. I only bought it because I needed a waterproof one for when I went in the pool in Malia and didn't think I'd love it as much as I do!

Kate Moss for Rimmel Matte Lipstick
These matte lipsticks have been such a huge success since they were launched. I love the matte finish of them and this is the perfect pillar box red. Plus, I managed to pick this up in Tescos when they had a deal on making it even cheaper that it originally is!

Thank you so much for reading, I wish you all a happy new year!
I love these type of posts so link any in the comments below and I'll be sure to check them out:) xx

Review- Mememe Blush in Coral

I'm a sucker for pretty packaging and when I saw Mememe's Blushers in the Benefit style cardboard box I had to try it. I'd been looking for a coral blush for a while so thought it was a good investment. These Blushers come in 4 different colours, Pink, Bronze, Rouge and Coral. Their £8.50 each which I think is slightly steep for a highstreet brand but you get a good amount of product and they are well pigmented.

Just like the Benefit Blushers these come with a small rectangular brush which is very good for doing make up on the go, however if given the choice I prefer to use a normal blusher brush.
It's a lovely reddy orange colour and would look gorgeous on tanned skin. On my paler skin it looks slightly too red as I suit light pinks more than I do red tones. I would however but this again and I plan to invest in more from this blush range. On a whole the Mememe range is really good quality, it does seem to slightly copy Benefit with their packaging but its a hell of a lot cheaper and the products  are all pretty decent if you ask me.
Have you tried the Mememe range or their Blushers?

Review-Lipcote

I have read a rediculous amount of review on Lipcote, but until now I never actually tried it.
Lots of people have said that it stung, was drying, made lipstick peel off and just generally didnt do its job very well.
However, I have to say that I disagree with all of the above. I bought this after buying a red lippy that I wanted to last on a night out, after reading all the reviews I wasn't really sure if I was going to love it or hate it.
I followed the instructions which I read on almost all blog reviews of this product which are as follows: liner, blot, lippy, blot, lippy, blot, Lipcote.
The product works best on dry lips, which is why the blotting is so essential. I applied this to my lips twice, letting it dry in between. It does sting ever so slightly, but only for about 2 minutes. It's also essential to keep your lips parted for about 15 minutes which this dries and sets properly.
I test drived this on a festive meal I made with the girls. I put it on at around 2.00pm and took it off around midnight. I between this time I drank and ate a lot. And although the end result is far from perfect when you think that this was on for ten hours and I ate a whole christmas dinner I'm pretty impressed.

Have you tried Lipcote? Did you get along with it?

Review-Maybelline Colour Sensational Popstick

It has to be said, this is hands down the most pointless product at I have ever bought!
Being a typical girly girl I was deffinately drawn to the fact the bullet of this lipstick is pink and glittery!
What Maybelline say about this product,

'Fresh colour meets a smooth shine.'
'Our crystal clear formula creates a tempting tint. Fresh shine in a stick.'

I'm not quite sure if Maybelline are talking about the same lipstick here as I deffinately didn't get any colour payoff from this and there was certainly no 'tempting tint' in sight!
I will give to them that this product does give a shine to your lips, but no more than a lip balm would.
They do smell amazing however and the colour of the bullet is so lovely, hence why I bought it!
I wouldn't rule out trying any of the other colours from this range as I have heard that some do give the tint that Maybelline promise.

I bought mine from an online discount site, here for £1.99.
Have you tired any of these Popsticks?

Review- Technic Kajal Kohl Eyeliner Crayon

Recently there has been a lot of hype about the Bourjois Kajal Eyeliner, which in effect is pretty similar to a big wax crayon. However before succumbing to the hype I decided to try out a cheaper version I found on Frangrence Direct which is an online discount make up shop. This one cost me £1.99 and is the Technic Kajal Kohl Eyeliner Crayon.

The packaging of this product is very basic, not particularly pretty or stylish but actually resembling a cheap lipstick. It winds up just like a lippy and gets wider as it gets nearer the bottom so it's in the shape of a cone. I personally was expecting a bit more product, but then again it was under two pounds so I guess I can't complain.

The formula is creamy and actually has good pigmentation, which is something I wasn't expecting.

This product is good for lining the upper lash line of your eyes but its difficult to do a cat eye with it as drawing a precise 'flick' is pretty difficult.
Unfortunately I did end up with panda eyes as this product transfered to below my eyes and beyond!
This deffinately hasn't put me off using this product however I will just make sure I wear a loose powder under my eye to catch any movement!
I do quite like the concept of this and would consider spending £6.99 on the Bourjois version, but I don't really get what happens when the point becomes blunt and you get near the end of the product, do you sharpen it or just end up with mahooooosive eyeliner on your lash line?

Have you tried this eyeliner or the Bourjois one? Thoughts on what happens when it goes blunt?
